1st WORKSHOP
The first Drive2theFuture Workshop was held last 6th of March, 2020, at the VIAS Institute, in Brussels.
The meeting had more than 40 participants (physically and online) who gave very useful insights for the project. First, Drive2theFuture was introduced to all participants, followed by presentation of other projects with which Drive2theFuture has many synergies: PAsCAL, SUaAVE and Trustonomy. Cooperation between all those projects will enhance deeper knowledge on Autonomous Vehicles.
Secondly, the attendants could participate in the prioritization of Drive2theFuture Use Cases and KPIs to be used for the project Impact Assessment, which will be a key issue on evaluation the different Drive2theFuture pilots. Participation was highly interactive, as the participants’ main priorities were surveyed in real time with the opportunity to discuss them. Finally, in the last interactive session on AV Acceptance Risk Assessment, the participants had the opportunity to rank a list of Technical, Operational, Legal and Behavioural risks as well as propose more to be taken into account. |

The Pilots of the project
Within Drive2theFuture, 12 pilots are planned, in 8 European countries, covering all modes of transport and involving all user and stakeholder categories. The pilots are organized in three phases, each with a specific target:• Phase I: Setting the scene,
• Phase II: Iterative testing of demonstrators,
• Phase III: Training and wide-scale demonstrations
During the first year of the project, Phase I pilots have already been initiated in the respective pilot sites, while Phase II is planned for the second year and Phase III towards the end of the project for the final evaluation. |

4 NEW PROJECTS ON THE EUROPEAN HORIZON OF THE AUTONOMOUS DRIVING
Under the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme, the European Commission has recently funded 4 new projects focused on driver behaviour and acceptance of connected, cooperative and automated transport: Drive2TheFuture, PAsCAL, SUaaVE, Trustonomy. These projects share some common topics to investigate on such as the assessment of public acceptance of autonomous driving; the analysis of the driver behaviour under different scenarios; the human/machine interconnections, and last – but absolutely not least – the investigation of ethical and legal issues associated with drivers of autonomous vehicles.Drive2TheFuture, PAsCAL, SUaaVE and Trustonomy are ready to work together in the next years for pushing forward the autonomous driving! Stay tuned! |
